Ingredients:
- 1 cup of walnuts
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup of water
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
Instructions:
- Prepare a Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set it aside.
- Toast the Walnuts: Place the walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat. Toast them for 2-3 minutes, or until they become fragrant. Be sure to keep an eye on them and stir occasionally to prevent burning. Remove the toasted walnuts from the skillet and set them aside.
- Make the Caramel: In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, and salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Once the sugar has dissolved, stop stirring and let the mixture come to a boil. Allow it to boil without stirring until it turns a deep amber color, which should take about 5 minutes.
- Add the Walnuts: Carefully stir in the toasted walnuts, ensuring they are coated evenly with the caramel.
- Add Vanilla and Butter: Remove the saucepan from the heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract and unsalted butter. Be cautious as the mixture will bubble up.
- Spread on Baking Sheet: Immediately pour the caramel-coated walnuts onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread them out into an even layer. Allow them to cool completely.
- Break into Pieces: Once the caramel has cooled and hardened, break the caramelized walnuts into bite-sized pieces.
- Serve and Enjoy: Your Quick & Crunchy Caramel Walnuts are ready to enjoy! They can be eaten as a snack or used as a delicious topping for ice cream, brownies, salads, or any other dish you prefer.
