Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of walnuts
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Prepare a Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set it aside.
  2. Toast the Walnuts: Place the walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat. Toast them for 2-3 minutes, or until they become fragrant. Be sure to keep an eye on them and stir occasionally to prevent burning. Remove the toasted walnuts from the skillet and set them aside.
  3. Make the Caramel: In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, and salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Once the sugar has dissolved, stop stirring and let the mixture come to a boil. Allow it to boil without stirring until it turns a deep amber color, which should take about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the Walnuts: Carefully stir in the toasted walnuts, ensuring they are coated evenly with the caramel.
  5. Add Vanilla and Butter: Remove the saucepan from the heat and quickly stir in the vanilla extract and unsalted butter. Be cautious as the mixture will bubble up.
  6. Spread on Baking Sheet: Immediately pour the caramel-coated walnuts onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread them out into an even layer. Allow them to cool completely.
  7. Break into Pieces: Once the caramel has cooled and hardened, break the caramelized walnuts into bite-sized pieces.
  8. Serve and Enjoy: Your Quick & Crunchy Caramel Walnuts are ready to enjoy! They can be eaten as a snack or used as a delicious topping for ice cream, brownies, salads, or any other dish you prefer.
